BSF organised village coordination meetings in border villages of North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts

Kolkata : Company Commanders of Border Out Posts Ramnagar, Mahendra, Ranaghat, Bajitpur, Uttarapada and Mustafapur of 08, 68 and 107th Battalion BSF deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border under Sector Headquarters Krishnanagar, under BSF, South Bengal Frontier organised village coordination meetings in border villages of Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal in their respective areas of responsibility. Hundreds of villagers besides Panchayat Pradhans, Panchayat members participated in these meetings organised by BSF.

The aim of these meetings is to strengthen the relationship between BSF and local communities. The BSF Company Commanders discussed the current situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need for cooperation from the villagers in maintaining security and preventing illegal activities. The officers explained how local residents can significantly contribute to border security by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity. The discussions also focused on the implementation of Section 144 of CrPC during night hours along the international border.

The key points discussed during the meetings included prohibition of unnecessary civilian movement on the embankment to prevent possible security breaches. The BSF also informed the villagers that fishing in the border area during night hours is strictly prohibited as it poses a threat to national security.

The Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier said that the BSF regularly conducts coordination meetings with the villagers in the border areas. These meetings conducted by the BSF battalions reflect their continuous efforts to win the hearts and minds of the border residents, thereby promoting mutual trust and cooperation for national security and community welfare. He also informed that the BSF has beefed up security along the border and apart from guarding it, is also making the border villagers aware about the current situation in Bangladesh. The BSF is actively interacting with the residents of these border villages to enhance their cooperation.
