Tiger Attack To Death in Sundarban Continues
Kolkata: The tiger attack continues in 2024. In last 43 days, the number of deaths tolls 2. Three days back, Kultali resident Pradeep Halder along with his 3 companions went for fishing and crabbing for their livelihood where Suryamani was attacked and killed by a tiger in the forest.
Then the tiger dragged Sridam Haldar, aged 45, to the forest, but his companions could not rescue him. Sridam Halder’s have five daughters, wife, sick mother and a poor family. The family had to give a daughter for adoptation due to poverty.
The tiger-attacked victims generally face the complex rules of Forest Department’s Core Buffer Scheme and are deprived of government assistances. But on the initiative of Ne APDR, Judgement passed by Hon’ble Judge Savyasachi Bhattacharya in favour of the rights of fishermen of Sundarbans, against a petition filed by Shantibala Devi, the wife of deceased in tiger attack Laksai Naskar, a resident of Kaikhali, Kultali, to compensate the tiger attack victim without giving any importance to the core buffer zone.
