BSF Jawans Apprehend A Smuggler Red Handed With Rare Species Of Birds
Kolkata: On 12th February at Border OutPost Amudia, under South Bengal Frontier, on the basis of reliable information source, the troops of 112th Battalion, rescued 40 birds of rare species (African Love Bird) from the clutches of smugglers. The jawans saw a person with some goods at the international border who was trying to cross from India to Bangladesh. When BSF jawans moved towards him to stop, the smuggler started trying to flee. Vigilant BSF soldiers apprehend the smuggler with 40 rare species of birds. The smuggler was planning to smuggle these special species of birds from India to Bangladesh.
The identity of the apprehend smuggler was Ohidul Shaikh, 50 years, resident of Narail, Bangladesh.
During interrogation, he revealed that 40 of these rare species (love birds) were given to him by some unknown person and he was taken near the BSF Duty Domination Line, showed him the way forward and told him that there was a bird on the other side of the duty line where the person will get those love birds from him. He got Rs 1400 for this work. But when he was trying to cross the BSF Duty Domination Line with those birds, he was apprehended by the BSF.
The rare species of birds along with the smuggler have been handed over to the Forest Department, Basirhat.
Jawahar Singh Negi, Commanding Officer 153 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict action to prevent smuggling of rare species of birds along the Border. He stated in clear words that we will not allow smuggling from the area under any circumstances.
